Welcome to the Global Village, the center of the minus20degree Festival for Art & Architecture. The theory about the global village was developed by Marshall McLuhan in the 1960s and describes how humanity, supported by digital media, has turned planet earth into a village. Today the Global Village seems to have become reality with Twitter, Whatsapp and Facebook as its rumor mill. The question that concerns us here is: what role does physical space, art and architecture play in this new reality?
The Global Village - festival center of minus20degree - consists of temporary buildings, designed and built by 17 architecture students. Invited spatial thinkers provide a theoretical reflection on the topic.
